Preparing Your Quilt Top

    Backing should be 6" - 8" larger than your quilt top (3" - 4" on each side)

    Remove all basting, loose threads, tacks and pins.

    Do not attach backing to your quilt top. The quilt top and backing should be separate.

    Press your quilt top and backing with ALL seams pressed flat.

    If the back is seamed, remove the selvage edge and make sure the edges are straight.

    Does your quilt have a “TOP” edge? Indicate which is the top on both the quilt top and backing.

    Fullness and puckers pieced into your quilt top can’t always be quilted out. The flatter your quilt, the better the result.

    We can’t guarantee that your pieced backing will be centered, but we’ll do our best.
